Robert and Molly Freedman Jewish Sound Archive
Location:
3420 Walnut Stree, Pennsylvania, United States 19104-6206
Description:

Located in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library of the University of Pennsylvania, The Robert and Molly Freedman Jewish Sound Archive currently contains over 3800 recordings, primarily in Yiddish and Hebrew. Over 33.000 entries in the trilingual database catalog include the title of each track or band of the recording, author(s), composer(s) where known and performers.

Together, Robert and Molly built the collection as a labor of love over the course of more than six decades and in 1998 donated it to the Penn Libraries. The couple continued to develop the collection and to serve as ambassadors of its contents. We at Penn Libraries are grateful to the Freedman’s for their vision, expertise, and philanthropy and extend our sincere condolences to Robert and the entire Freedman family.
