YAAANA’s Second Anniversary, Upcoming Yiddish Play, and Yiddish Classes

We are excited to share the following upcoming events and classes with you:

EVENTS:

May 4^th,7 p.m.: YAAANA’s Second Anniversary Celebration

An evening full of Yiddish-themed entertainment including live Jewish music & performance by Susana Poretsky & Fisherke – a Yiddish drag queen!

You don’t have to speak Yiddish to enjoy this event!

The event is a fundraiser for a world premiere of the Yiddish play
“Kraft” by Leah Hoffman, coming up in June 2019 as a part of the San Diego International Fringe Festival.

June 6^th to 16^th: the world premiere of the Yiddish play Kraft (Power) by Leah Hoffman

(supertitles provided) – 5 performances at the San Diego International Fringe Festival

Our performance dates are: June 6^th, 11^th, and 13^th at 7 p.m, and June 16^th at 2 p.m. and at 7 p.m.

Tickets: $10 Venues TBD.

CLASSES:

Starting on May 13^th: “Learn Yiddish through Poetry” class series for advanced students.

 

The class will focus on studying Yiddish poetry from the 19^th and 20^th centuries. There will be 6 sessions on weekday evenings. The class will cost $50 for the whole series or $10 for individual sessions.

Location: University City

Starting on May 21^st: “Yiddish for Beginners” class series focused on conversational Yiddish

and will include everyday greetings, common idioms, and the very basics of grammar. We will also learn a few Yiddish songs. There will be 6 sessions on weekday evenings. The class will cost $70 for the whole series or $15 for individual session.

Location: University City

Starting on May 23^rd: “Yiddish for Beginners” class series focused on conversational Yiddish
